Now I don’t often (ever?) urge you to buy anything, but now I will! this is out this week:

Best of Foyle's War

The Best of Foyle’s War 6 DVD set. If you haven’t seen this series, these are picks by the series’ star Michael Kitchen, and a great place to start. You are sure to get hooked. It’s about detective chief superintendent Foyle investigating crime during WW2, with his spunky female driver Sam. I just love the amazing, fascinating period authenticity, historical detail, fun writing, characters, mysteries and the English countryside. Watch it and come back to tell me if you liked.

leave your pick of the week, recommendations for others on what’s worth their money, great buys you made recently, stuff you wish was coming out soon, stuff you’re really looking forward to, stuff I missed, any other thoughts, opinions etc…

Til Tuesday!

  1. You are NOT kidding! What a week of releases! So many greats with Criterion “The 39 Steps” making me drool. Luckily I saved the gift cards I’d gotten for my birthday for such a happening. Now to decide. Great info, as always!

    • thanks! I seriously want a poster of that 39 steps cover. (and the big heat one a few weeks back) weeks like this it’s tough to be frugal. or a completist.
      cheers, come again!

  2. What a cavalcade of releases, including ACROSS THE PACIFIC in the Bogard collection, as well as more Cregar Eagerness with our fave rave Laird C. (RINGS ON HER FINGERS)! Where’s a winning lottery ticket when you need one!? :-) Swell round-up, Kristina, as always!

      • Great heavenly days, Kristina, my daughter and I were so busy getting ready to go swimming today (gotta strike while the sun is hot! :-)) that somehow HUDSON’S BAY slipped past my hurrying little brain! So sorry about that, my friend! Now that I’m giving it my undivided attention, I’m overjoyed to see you included HUDSON’S BAY, as well as your much-appreciated link to my current HB blog post! Many thanks for your kindness, friendship, and excellent taste in classic movies and the actors in them, like our lad Laird — you know you’re tops in our book!

  3. I’m catching up with this belatedly — many thanks for such a great compilation! Just sent my dad the Roy Rogers link — he just watched a different Rogers-Frazee movie this week and said he’d like to see more. Serendipity!

    Best wishes,
    Laura
