hot off the presses is the latest issue of the bi-monthly noir publication… In this issue other fine writers bring you a close look at Ann Sheridan’s excellent NORA PRENTISS, the gorgeous and tragic LINDA DARNELL gets the second part of her spotlight, installment number 5 in the ongoing history of noir music, plus a fun new feature and the usual fun facts & quotes & reader letters.
My regular TV viewing and new DVD release guide, also known as DEADLY IS THE SCREEN, covers in-depth a couple of the best Stanwyck movies Hitchcock never made, and a director whose Virginia Mayo noirs were among the very few full length movies he ever did, even though he made dozens upon dozens of well known films and always seemed to know just what you wanted. I also run down a number of noirs coming out on discs before Christmas.
As always Dark Pages is loaded with kicks and learning for noir nuts, and subscriptions make great Christmas gifts so check out this page to learn more and subscribe
ALSO next up is the GIANT Dark Pages issue all about NIGHTMARE ALLEY. We are very excited about the many great writers already taking part (keeping those under our fedoras for now) but if you love this movie and have something to say about it, there’s always room for more contributions — click here to see how you can join us .
