O Canada Blogathon Reminder

…plus big news for everyone participating!

Speakeasy and Silver Screenings (who took these beautiful pix) would like to remind you that the O Canada Blogathon, a celebration of Canadian cinema, stars and moviemakers, begins in a little more than a week (Oct 4 through 9). You can see the impressive list of participants that have already joined up here, and there’s still plenty of time to join and contribute something, just leave us a comment and we’ll be glad to add you to the list.

We also have a big announcement to make: thanks to the fine and supportive people at The National Film Board of Canada (NFB), we have a prize that will be awarded to one of the blogathon participants! It’s a DVD of Sarah Polley’s film Stories We Tell. A winner will be selected by way of a random draw from bloggers who post within the blogathon period.

Here’s another look at the prize, with gorgeous foliage of various types 🙂

Many thanks to

The NFB for providing us with this movie.

See you all starting on the 4th and we’re looking forward to the cinematic journey through Canada as seen in film, through all its contributions to the world of entertainment, from the silents through to Cronenberg, from Leslie Nielsen back to Mary Pickford, from Quebec with Hitchcock to Niagara with Marilyn,  and out to the visit the Mounties, with more stops in between.

  1. Good thing I’ve got my drafts ready to go. I might have to go back and do some editing just to be certain, but otherwise I should be able to post them in time. I’m looking at a system where I’ll be able to post one of my three entries every two days of the blogathon.
